We All Need Someone

We all need someone.  Whether a child needs a parent, a couple need each other, a friend needs a friend or a family member needs another…  God created man and woman in his own image and said that it wasn’t good for man to be alone.  Ecclesiastes 4:12 says that “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken".

Matthew 18:20 says, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them".

We all need someone and we all need our father God.  God places people in our lives to mentor us, to minister to us, to encourage us and to commune with us.  He doesn’t want us going around every day as though we are an island, he desires fellowship with us and therefore he puts that same desire in us.  He requires that we fellowship with others, that’s one of the reasons we are here.

A relationship doesn’t always have to be romantic, it can be a sisterhood of those at church, a civic group, colleagues, family or friends.  The key is to have someone that can pour into your life; add and not just make withdrawals.  It can become a burden to be in a relationship with someone who is always sharing their issues and never allowing you to equally share yours.  It’s disappointing when you are giving your all and receiving nothing in return.  It can be emotionally draining to be around someone who is always negative and rarely has a positive word to say.  We must always pray about our relationships and make sure they are ones that please God.  I have always thought that if you can’t bring positivity into my life, it’s too big a price to pay to deal with negativity every day.  .

My prayer, always, is that God closes doors he wants closed and opens doors he wants open.  I say that all the time and then add a little extra disclaimer…”close the door real tight and open the door real wide because sometimes I can’t see what you’re trying to do in my life”.  God has taken people out of my life that were not a part of my future and when I was sad about it and wanted to reach out to them, God reminded me of my prayers.  He replaced them with people who loved him and honored him and embraced me with love and support.  He honors his word and the cries of his people.  God gives us his best and he gives us exactly what we need.

  1. What a great read! Thank you for sharing the need for us to be in relationships that fill us with the love of God. We all need a reminder that we are never alone.
