Retreat into the New Year

I have been on a vacation of sorts, but now I’m back and ready to work.  I’m looking forward to the New Year and all that it has to offer, but first I must share one of the best highlights of last year.  One of the many adventures I experienced last year, caught me by surprise, but has had a long-lasting effect.  My desire is to have a deeper relationship with God and I try to incorporate time and space for this development whenever I travel or delve into a new experience.

The retreat I experienced at the end of the year was truly amazing and surpassed my expectations.  I looked for a place where I could spend some quiet time, on a porch, sipping something warm.  I looked for a place that I could connect with God’s creation and still have some access to the modern world. I found that place.

I walked on a few trails, along the water, sat in a quaint little chapel, rocked in the rocking chairs, ate most of my favorite foods and spent some amazing, fulfilling time with God.  I continued my reading in “Say Yes to God” and wrote in my journal every thought, feeling and prayer that came to mind.

One of the things that came out of this retreat, while there and confirmed after I left, was grace.  God spoke to me urging me to show grace in more situations, to have more quiet time to hear from Him and develop a pattern of fasting and praying more.  Grace will develop.  He also urged me to study a little more, get into His word like never before so that it can be hidden in my heart.  Grace will develop.  He showed me grace, so now it’s my turn…this will be interesting.
